Doris E. Sheldon

Farmington: Passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the age of 96.  Doris was born on July 23, 1920 to the late James and Mary "Reed" Ellsworth.  She is predeceased by a sister Jean Sheldon; brother James Ellsworth;  granddaughter April O'Malley and her husband, Gardner Sheldon, Sr. who passed away on February 27, 1993.  Doris is survived by her children; Gardner (Cheryl) Sheldon, Harriet (Robert "Bob") Haase, and Steven (Cathy) Sheldon; Grandchildren; Amy (Stephen Hughes) Haase, Paul (Jennifer) Sheldon, Rob Haase, Adam (Samantha) Sheldon, Holly (Dorian Bryant) Sheldon, Heather Sheldon and Tammy (Mike) Weisenberg; great grandchildren; Lauren, Ashley, Deshae, Noah, Sofia, Maxwell, Bryce, Stihl, Sean and Anika; brother David Ellsworth of Charlotte, NC; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. 

Doris and Gardner were married on March 27, 1945 and began their life together in their home of Farmington, NY where they would raise their children and continue the tradition of farming the land that has been a part of their family for generations.  Farming would remain in the heart of Doris for her entire life.  Her children were able to honor the wish of both she, and her late husband Gardner, to spend her life, and final days at their homestead.  She loved her family and enjoyed being a homemaker.  Doris enjoyed harvest time and would not turn down an opportunity to tag along for a ride in the combine.  Doris also enjoyed cooking, square dancing and cats.  She attended Farmington Friends Church for many years and was a member of the Order of Easter Star.
