Mildred Alice (“Milly”) Buckner

Macedon: Age 73, entered eternal rest with the Lord on November 21, 2016, surrounded by her family, while in hospice care after bravely battling leukemia.

She was the wife of William Buckner for 50 years, until ending in divorce.  Born in Parkersburg, WV, Milly was the fifth of six children; sister to Josephine, Robert, Jack, Betty and Bill.   She graduated from Parkersburg High School, and worked in Sales for Sears Department Store for over 30 years.

She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Macedon, where she had numerous friends and participated in choir and other church activities.   She truly enjoyed reading, singing, Bible study, taking walks, vacationing in Thousand Islands, and of course eating her favorite candy, Hershey Kisses.  Milly’s favorite pastime was caring for her grandchildren and also watching the ships coming and going on the St. Lawrence River. She is certainly best remembered for her always joyful and smiling personality, hardy laugh, strong faith and her incredible devotion to helping her family and others.

Survived by her loving sons Mark (Carol) and Matt (Jennifer) Buckner;  step children Tina (Mike) McCormick and Teresa (Phil) Howard; grandchildren Patrick, Amy, Newt, Elizabeth, Daniel, Amy, Amanda, and Meghan; siblings Betty Tice and Bill Ball; nieces, nephews. Predeceased by parents Dale and Mildred Ball; siblings Josephine, Jack and Robert; stepson William Jr.

Family and friends may join for a time of visitation on  Friday (12/2) from 4-7 pm at Murphy Funeral Chapel, 1040 Route 31, Macedon;  Memorial service to be held Saturday (12/3) at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Macedon, with Pastors Carol Holtz-Martin and Anne Gardner officiating.   Interment at later date, in the Thousand Islands.   In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to The First Baptist Church of Macedon, 58 W.
