Ontario:  Passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Jean, on Saturday morning, February 25, 2017 at the age of 94.  Nellie was born on October 2, 1922 in Rochester, NY and was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, William "Bill" in 2002; Parents, Emil and Emma DeVrieze; brothers and sisters.  She is survived by her daughter, Jean Taillie; son, Wayne Taillie; Jean's daughter Gail (David) Smith of Webster, and Wayne's son and daughter; great grandsons, Daniel Smith of Michigan, Austin and Brennen Smith of Webster, NY; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  

Nellie spent her entire life in Ontario, NY.  Jean and Wayne remember her helping their dad, "Papa", work the farm.  She also worked in the cafeteria at Wayne Central Schools.  Nellie retired from Mobil Chemical in Macedon, NY.  During her retirement she took up quilting.  She was a member of The Reverse Curves Quilt Club in Williamson, NY.  Several years ago Nellie submitted one of her quilts to the Monroe County Fair and took 1st place.  Her daughter, Jean, belongs to the Finger Lakes Classic Car Club and Nellie started "tagging" along with Jean and eventually found herself becoming a member as well.  Nellie was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 74 and would survive her battle for twenty years.  Nellie loved people, especially her family, and she found great pleasure in being a part of their lives.  She was very proud of all their accomplishments including her three great grandsons being Eagle Scouts.  Nellie will be missed by those who knew and loved her; but she will be fondly remembered throughout their lives.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 5-8PM at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1961 Ridge Road, Ontario, NY 14519, where her funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11AM.  Nellie will be laid to rest next to her husband Bill, at the Ridge Chapel Cemetery, Ridge Road, Williamson, NY.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Nellie may be directed to your favorite charity.  To leave a condolence, light a candle, upload a photo, or order floral tributes, please go to www.murphyfuneralservices.com.
