Stephen E. “Gunny” Wolanski

Stephen E. Wolanski, Age 53 of Ontario NY, passed suddenly on Tuesday October 11, 2016.

He was born April 19, 1963 and was a 1981 Graduate of New Milford High School in CT.

Gunnery Sergeant Wolanski was a retired veteran. He served 20 years of active service with the United States Marine Corps, having served and survived, amongst others,  his tour during the Iraq Gulf War. 

Stephen was the son of retired Marine Sergeant Mitchell W. Wolanski Jr. and the late Patricia A. Wolanski.  He is survived by the love of his life Eileen Bradbury Legler, his brothers Mitchell III, John and little sister Melanie, his children Valarie, Travis, Rebekah, and David as well as an abundance of nephews, nieces, Aunts/Uncles, cousins and the enormous number of friends he amassed throughout the years.

Anyone that knew him well, knew Stephen had a heart of gold and great sense of humor. He was the best brother, and friend,  a sibling could have. Stephen was a staunch defender of the US Constitution and his country as well as an advocate for those unable to advocate for themselves. He will also be remembered for many other things;  especially his wit, his charm and for his love of the culinary. Boy could he cook!

The family will receive friends on Monday,  October 17, 2016,  for a 2 pm memorial service at the Harmony House located at 58 East Main Street, Webster, NY 14580. Interment with military honors will follow the memorial service at 3PM,  at Furnaceville Cemetery,  Trimble Road, Ontario, NY 14519. Online condolences may be left at www.murphyfuneralservices.com.
