Palmyra, NY: Erik was born on August 22, 1978 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, suddenly, on Saturday, July 15, 2017, in his sleep at the age of 38.  Erik is survived by his mother, Connie Ellsworth with whom he lived; brother, Jonathan (Shannon) Ellsworth of Walworth; nieces, Layla Tori, McKenzie, MaryGrace, and Liberty; nephew, Robert Ellsworth; best friends, Jack Haight, Eric Zukauskas and Nate Welch; many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.  Eric was predeceased by his father, Daryl L. Ellsworth on January 26, 2017 and his Uncle Mark Ellsworth on April 18, 2017. Also predeceased by his close cousin Brenda  DeConinck and all of his maternal grandparents.

Erik was a major fan, for many years, of dirt modified racing at Canandaigua Speedway. Robert and Linda Trischler and Nate Welch were close friends from the race track. Erik was a big fan of the WWE as well.  Some even referred to him as "The Bigshow".  He liked to hunt and was an avid fisherman. Most of all, he loved the Lord Jesus Christ, professed he was a Christian, and was a faithful member of Palmyra Bible Baptist church in Palmyra, NY. Erik graduated from Palmyra-Macedon class of 1997.

Anyone who met Erik was instantly his friend. He not only liked his friends, he loved them back.  He poured out his heart with kindness to all who met him. He was an absolute gentle giant.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the life of Erik at his memorial service, Friday, July 21, 2017 at 6PM, at the Palmyra Baptist Church.  His inurnment will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10AM at the Marion Cemetery, followed by an informal gathering,  12 Noon,  at the home of Jonathan and Shannon Ellsworth, 4065 Walworth-Ontario Road, Walworth, NY.  To light a candle, or leave a condolence, please go to www.murphyfuneralservices.com
