Harold R. Hughes
Palmyra: Harold passed away on April 2, 2018 at age 89, to join his predeceased wife of 63 years, Barbara. He is survived by his son, Gary (Pamela) and daughter, LeeAnn (William Mastin II); granddaughter, Cassandra and several relatives.
Harold was employed as an analytical chemist at Garlock in Palmyra for 48 years. He was an avid photographer and was known for his interest in World War II aircrafts, particularly the Boeing Flying Fortress B-17. Harold had a vast knowledge about the Titanic.
Harold graduated from RIT, attained the rank of staff seargent in the Air Force and was stationed at Sampson Air Force base as an instructor during the Korean War.
A graveside service for Harold and Barbara will be held on Tuesday (May 1) at 12:15 PM at Palmyra Village Cemetery, 272 Vienna St. Palmyra, NY, 14522. Contributions in Harold's memory may be directed to The National Warplane Museum, www.nationalwarplanemuseum.com.
