John L. Ray
“JR”
Palmyra: John passed away peacefully at his home on February 14, 2018. For 20 years John has struggled with respiratory disease. He was 65 years old born on July 17, 1952 to Frank and Mary Ray. John recently married the love of his life of 35 years, Debbie Ertle Ray; he is also survived by his brothers, Francis “Frito” Ray, Bob “Screwy” Ray and Tom “Tiny” Ray; mother in law, Lorna Kenyon; brothers in law, John (Cindy) and Bill (Eleana) Ertle; several nieces and nephews.
JR was an avid music lover. He would often receive calls from his friends asking music questions. JR enjoyed concerts, car shows, going to races, camping, and making stain glass windows. He was a very good cook and enjoyed going out to eat. John spent many days with friends driving around the beautiful Finger Lakes, in one of his antique cars. He enjoyed going on vacation and will always be remembered for living his life to the fullest with his friends and family. JR often said, “I’d rather climb the mountain when I am young, than look at it when I am old.” When tomorrow starts with out you here, we will cherish all the wonderful times we shared. You will always be with me in my heart, suffer no more my love. May peace be with you.
A memorial service for John will be held on Saturday (February 24) at 10 AM at Cross Creek Church, 3700 Route 31, Palmyra, NY 14522. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Palmyra Macedon School District, care of the Art Department, 151 Hyde Parkway, Palmyra, NY 14522.
