John passed away, unexpectedly on July 6, 2017, at the age of 71 with his family by his side.  He is predeceased by his parents,  Leon and Geraldine "Moose"  Scoville; his brother;  sister; and his wife Elizabeth Scoville.
John is survived by his children, Shelly Brothers (Luke) of Sodus, NY and Michael Scoville (Deborah) of Canandaigua, NY;  Frances Matthews the mother of his children; three grandsons Justin , Sam , Xavier;  one granddaughter, Christy Lynn; his brother James (Pat) of Sodus, NY;  several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

John served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for 5 years.  After his discharge from the service in 1969, he began working at Xerox and would continue his employment for 38 years; having retired in 2007.
John was a member of the American Legion,  Meyers Ingraham  Post # 428,  in Ontario, NY. He had a great love and passion for motorcycles and was a lifetime member of the  Livin' Proof Motorcycle Club.

His family wishes to thank Ontario ambulance and the staff of Rochester General Hospital for their care and compassion during this time. They would also like to thank Tracy Eaton and Danielle Dombrowski for all of their help throughout the years.

Friends and family may gather on Tuesday July 11, 2017, from 4 to 8PM at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1961 Ridge Road, Ontario, NY 14519, with a memorial service immediately following.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to Wounded Warrior, or a charity of your choice.


There will be a follow up celebration, at a later date to be announced, of John life.
