Richard Carney Obituary

Richard L. Carney

“Dickie”

Walworth:  Richard passed away on February 1, 2018 at age 70.  He was born in Lyons, NY to the late Oscar and Carolyn Carney. Richard is predeceased by his siblings, Phyllis, Carol and David.  He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jeanne Carney; children, Jeff (Rebecca) Carney and Jason (Kelly) Carney; grandchildren, Liam and Fynn Carney; cats, Doc and Sam.

Richard loved sports of all kind.  In spite of any physical limitations he had, he enjoyed coaching his beloved sons in baseball (despite Jason’s pitch that almost broke his ankle) and basketball.  He was also a devoted Buffalo Bills and Syracuse fan.  There are many fond memories of afternoons watching football games (he loved his fantasy football), euchre at Carol and Buds, days spent at the race tracks with David, and Red Wings games with Jeff and Rebecca.  He enjoyed spending many memorable summers fishing with Skippy and relaxing at Faun Lake with Jeanne and the boys.  Although he was a self-proclaimed “hippie” - Richard was very passionate about politics.  He always enjoyed a good spirited debate.  He was a man of intelligence, integrity and kindness.  He will be truly missed.

Family and friends may gather for calling hours on Monday (February 5) from 4-7 PM at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 1040 Rte. 31, Macedon, NY 14502.  Private interment in White Haven Memorial Park.
