Obituary

Macedon:  Passed away January 9, 2025, at the age of 82.  Dan was born in Throop, PA to the late Florence and Alfred Peters.  He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years and high school sweetheart, Betty (Wassily) Peters; two children, daughter Tammy (Thomas), son Tim (Jennifer); beloved grandson Travis Daniel; his sister Romaine Guzi, and five nieces and nephews.

Dan grew up in the Town of Cortlandt, NY where he attended Hendrick Hudson High School. After attending Clarkson College and graduating from NYU, he began his 30-year career with IBM in Sales & Marketing and worked at offices in Armonk, NY, Denver, CO, Richmond, VA, Gaithersburg, MD and Utica, NY.

When he was transferred to Utica in the mid-1970's, Dan purchased Hill Acres, a 72-acre farm in Vernon, NY where he raised beef cattle in his spare time. He loved working on his farm and also had a great passion for hunting, fishing, and golfing. After IBM, he became a certified financial planner and ran his own company, Integrity Financial Services, for ten years. When he retired, Dan and Betty moved to Macedon, NY to be closer to family.

"Life is a great adventure or nothing at all," Dan often liked to say, and his life was a testament to this. Through his many business and leisure travels he'd been to every state in the country except Alaska, which he was still planning to visit. Dan's adventurous spirit and love of 'leaving on a jet plane' was passed on to his children and his grandson who is training to become a pilot. Dan was known by family and friends as a man of unwavering compassion, kindness and loyalty who stayed true to his convictions, faith and opinions. Those who knew him well will remember Dan with a smile whenever a song by John Denver is played. He will be very dearly missed and forever loved.

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away."  -- Henry David Thoreau
