Alan Frederick Donnelly

Canandaigua, NY., formerly of Campbell, NY:  Entered eternal life on Monday, Dec. 2, 2024. The son of the late Frederick and Dorothy "Schue" Donnelly, Alan was born on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1936, in Albany, NY., where he received his early education from Vincentian Institute. After high school, he served in the US Army, primarily with the 181st ASA Company in Bad Aibling, Germany, from 1956 to 1959. Alan attended Syracuse University on the G.I. Bill, where he met Patricia Kelley, and they were married on April 28, 1962. Alan and Patricia moved to Corning, and then to nearby Campbell after college, raising five children. Alan had a brief career in journalism, before joining Corning Glass Works, now Corning Inc., where he worked in marketing and communications, retiring in 1991. A long-time parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Campbell, he loved to travel and spend time with his family. He also enjoyed golf and served on the LPGA Corning Classic Board of Directors for many years, directing the media center for the annual golf tournament, which raised money for area hospitals. As a retiree, he also served on the Corning Area Public Library Board of Trustees (now the Southeast Steuben County Library) and on the board of the Science and Discovery Center. He was predeceased by a brother, Wallace, and his sister, Linda. In addition to his wife, survivors include his brother, Edward (Carol) Donnelly, of Albany; a daughter, Kelley (Charles) Pappis, of Pleasanton, Calif.; and four sons, Patrick (Alesha), of Macedon, NY; Dan (Dee) Donnelly, of Meridian, Miss.; Scott Donnelly, of Queensbury; Ryan (Allison) Donnelly, of New Orleans, La.; grandchildren, Quinn (Samantha) Donnelly, of Rochester; Caitlin Donnelly, of Rochester; Nicholas Pappis, of Pleasanton Calif.; Alex Pappis, of Pleasanton, Calif.; Hayden Donnelly, of Meridian Miss.; Harper Donnelly, of New Orleans, La.; great grandson, Lucas Donnelly, of Rochester, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, in Colonie, NY.
