Albert "Al" Gilbert, born June 21, 1938, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 87. A longtime resident of Palmyra, Al grew up in Avoca, NY, where he developed a love of the outdoors and physical labor that stayed with him throughout his life.

Those who knew Al will remember his strong will and unwavering opinions. Beneath his tough exterior, there was a good person whom many didn't get to see.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Ruth Gilbert, and by his siblings Thomas, Timothy, and Lynn Reilly Dougherty.

Al is survived by his children, Brian (Michelle) Gilbert and Suzanne (James) Miller, and their mother, Susan Prusik; his grandchildren, Andrew (Lauren) Miller, Danielle Miller, Tara (Josh) Sahr, Brian Jr. (Eleni) Gilbert, Kristin (Miguel) Ramirez, and Michael Gilbert; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his long-time companion, Beverly Myers.

Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1040 Route 31, Macedon, NY 14502. A memorial service for Al will immediately follow visitation at 3:00 pm.
