Obituary

Alexander Scott Holloway, 21, of Greece, New York, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, with his family by his side.

Alex was an amazing young man.  He was diagnosed with Friedrichs Ataxia at the age of 7. Alexander was a beautiful angel who walked (or wheeled) among us in this crazy world. Above all else he never took any single moment for granted. Alex was proud of being an uncle to Colton.  He loved that little boy so much.  Giovanni was also a huge part of Alex's life and journey.

I remember a time we went through a drive through, and he had his hand on the brick wall as we drove up and said, "Dad, you have to feel the brick it so cool." Now, I didn't think anything of it, but he was always looking at the beauty in the world and appreciated the little things we all take for granted. Alex had many obstacles to face in life, but he did them all with a smile and overcame more than any one person should ever have to endure. Despite his challenges he went to school every day and graduated high school with honors like a boss; This was also attributed to Larry, his school aide. Larry and Alex had a connection most of us will never get in life. Even after graduating high school, Larry would come see Alex wherever he was, at least once a week - now that's friendship! Larry and Alex would tell jokes to each other and hit on the nurses together. Larry was like an older version of Alex which is why they were so close.

Alex was so inspiring to so many people. All he ever wanted to do was to help people and inspire them to be better and overcome whatever challenges they faced. Alex created a group called #SMILE. His dream in life was to just make the world a better, loving place. No matter what he was going through, he was on the group chat every day telling everyone to smile and remember to cherish every moment we have together. Every time your eyes met his and you saw his face, your heart just stopped, and you smiled no matter what was going on; he did that, that was his power of love. Anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting Alex will tell you the same - his love was infectious. He will always be loved.

Please, even though he's gone, always remember to smile.

Alex is predeceased by John and Lucy VanGrol, Helen and John Knapp, Kevin Knapp, Catherine Knapp, and many other loved ones.
