Albright, Allen J.
Ontario: Died on March 29, 2015 at the age of 92. He was predeceased by his wife Betty (Elizabeth Porrey) in 2005 and his brother Gage. He is survived by his sons Stephen (Cathryn), Richard (Suzanne) and David (Eileen) Albright; grandchildren, Michael (Hope) Albright, Karen Albright (Mark Williams), Jennifer Waldron, Chad Albright, Bradley Albright, Lauren (Daniel) Martin, six great grandchildren, brother Duane and sister-in-law Jeanette.
Allen was a native of Ontario, NY. He grew up on the family fruit farm, graduated from Ontario High School in 1940 and earned a degree in agricultural economics from Cornell University. Allen was activated with the other members of his ROTC unit at the end of his junior year at Cornell and graduated from Officer Candidate School at Fort Lee, Virginia. His service from 1943-1946 included fourteen months overseas; mainly with occupation forces in Austria. Allen spent most of his working career with Security Trust Company and would retire as a Senior Vice President in 1980. He also would go on to purchase the farm he grew up on, from his parents, in 1965. He continued to farm passionately well into his eighties. Allen was very supportive of his community and was involved with several organizations including The Wayne County Assessment Review Board, the Board of Directors of the Eastern States Bankcard Association, the Better Business Bureau, the United Way of Wayne County, ABVI, and treasurer of the Boy Scouts of America, Otetiana Council. Allen served as a councilman on the Ontario Town Board for eight years, and served as the President of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. He also volunteered with the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Rochester, the Rochester Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers and the Ad Club. Allen was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge 416 for 54 years and had served as the treasurer. He was an active member of the Ontario First Baptist Church. He was an avid sports enthusiast and had played baseball in high school and at Cornell. He would go on to coach both youth baseball and basketball. He led a full and productive life and he will be sorely missed by the myriad of people whom he touched during his lifetime.
There will be no prior visitation. Friends and family are invited to gather for a memorial service on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 2PM at the Ontario First Baptist Church, 1929 Ridge Road, Ontario, NY 14519. Interment private.
