Handy, Benjamin L.       "Ben"

Wolcott/Palmyra:  Passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the age of 76.  Ben was predeceased by his wife Dee Handy and his daughter Annette Yeager.  He is survived by his daughters Candy (Barney) Klaeysen, Tammy (Dave) Wilsey, Dee Dee (Jeff) Yonker and Melanie (Chris) Hurley; sister, Susan ( Ronnie) Basham; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Ben moved to Palmyra, NY with his wife, Dee, in 1958 from Sophia, West Virginia.  He established a successful contracting business with his business partner, and life long friend, Jim Winston.  He loved racing cars and took the opportunity to do so at many local tracks in his younger years.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and excelled at skeet shooting where he had won many local tournaments.  Ben served as the President of the Red Creek Conservation Club for several years.  Most of all, Ben loved his family and took loving care of his wife for several years prior to her passing.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 10-1PM at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1040 Route 31, Macedon, NY, where a service will immediately follow.  Ben's interment, next to his wife, will follow the service at Palmyra Cemetery.  Memorials in memory of Ben may be directed to Angioma Alliance (because brains shouldn't bleed), 520 W. 21st Street, Suite G2-411, Norfolk, VA 23517-1950, or, Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
