Bertram L.
Lewis III
Mar 24, 1951 — Oct 14, 2026
Macedon
“Skip”
Macedon — Bert Lewis passed away on October 14, 2026 at the age of 75. He was born to the late Bertram Lewis Jr. and Gloria Lewis. Bert is survived by his brother Blake (Kathleen), nephew Brant, niece Kendal, and many friends.
Bert was a devoted boating enthusiast whose love of the water shaped his life and inspired him to help establish the Montezuma Anchorage Paddle Camp. Through the camp, others could discover the beauty of the waterways and experience the joy and connection to the water that meant so much to him.
Bert also had a talent for working with his hands. He owned and operated a successful painting business for more than 30 years, earning a living through his skill, dedication, and attention to detail. Outside of his business, he devoted himself to restoring wooden boats, carefully milling, shaping, and reconstructing components by hand. Each restoration reflected his patience, craftsmanship, and appreciation for preserving the beauty, character, and history of these classic vessels.
When he wasn’t on the water or working on a restoration project, Bert enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson on the open road. At home, he shared his life with many beloved pets over the years, especially his dogs, whose companionship brought him comfort and joy. He cared for them with kindness and affection, and they held a special place in his life.
Friends remember Bert for his generosity and willingness to lend a hand whenever someone needed help. He valued the friendships he formed and found fulfillment in sharing his knowledge, skills, and passions with others. Through his craftsmanship, his love of boating, and his thoughtfulness toward friends, he made a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Bert will be remembered for his independent spirit, his skilled hands, his love of the open water and open road, and his generosity toward others. His legacy lives on in the boats he worked to restore, the friendships he made through Montezuma Anchorage Paddle Camp, and the many lives he touched along the way.
