Dohse, Bessie Palmer       "Bess"

Palmyra/Greece, NY: Bessie died peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the age of 95.  She is reunited with her beloved husband of 62 years, Bud; son, Rob; brother, Frank Palmer; many dear relatives and friends.  Bessie is survived by her children, Don (Elaine "Nicki') Dohse of Macedon, Gary (Ginny) Dohse of Saco, Maine, Jill (Rick) Sandor of Rochester, Jeff (Sally) Dohse of Clifton, Virginia, daughter-in-law Wynnette Dohse of Oswego, NY and sister-in-law Virginia Palmer of Palmyra, 13 grndchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one on the way, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Bess was born in Brockport, NY on May 27, 1919 to John and Harriett Palmer and grew up in Brockport along with her older brother Frank.  She cherished and recalled, with delight, those early years in her hometown of Brockport.  Bess graduated from the Brockport Normal School and moved to Palmyra to pursue a career in teaching. She was dedicated to teaching and devoted to helping her students.  She made many friends and established lifelong bonds in the tight knit community of Palmyra.  She will be remembered for her dedication and her love to her family and her kindness to everyone.  Bess had an appreciation for life's simple pleasures.  She looked forward to family gatherings, Sunday worship, and a meal with her family and good conversation.  She inspired all around her with her optimistic "glass half full" attitude throughout the ups and downs of life.

The family would like to thank Rahel and the entire staff in the Mission Unit of The Edna Tina Wilson Living Center for their love and compassionate care of Bess in the final part of her journey.

Friends and family may gather for a time of visitation, on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 3-7PM at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1040 route 31, Macedon, NY.  Bessie's funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11 AM, at the Western Presbyterian Church, 101 East Main Street, Palmyra.  Interment will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery.
