Fairport: Passed away, peacefully, on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the age of 88. Bev was born on May 29, 1926 in Rochester, NY to Ross Franklin and Jeanette Julia Ames. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Janet Ranaletta. She is survived by her children, Shelley (Fred) Gay, Jeffrey, Stephen, Sherrey (Al) Gardner; grandchildren, Matthew (SU), Michael (Joanne), Mark (Lynn), Ethan and Justin; great-grandchildren, Allison, Jacinth; sister, Nancy (Joe) Pires, many nieces, nephews, other family and a world of wonderful friends.
Bev graduated from Irondequoit High School and went to work for Kodak's DPI unit and eventually moved on and served as the secretary for the Irondquoit Presbyterian Church and then on to Xerox where she would finish her working career and retire as the secretary for the department maintaining the material safety data for the company. Bev also did volunteer work for such organizations as the Auditorium Theatre, RPO Eastman Theatre, Finger Lakes Performing Arts Center, Advent House in Fairport, the Wegman's LPGA, and also helped with the Irondequoit High School Class of 1944 reunions. Bev was a longtime supporter of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Bev's family recalls that she was a fervent patriot of the United States and its constitution.
There will be no prior calling. Family and friends are invited to gather for a service at White Haven Memorial Parks Creation Chapel, Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY, on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 1PM. Entombment will follow at the cemetery. Memorials in Bev's memory may be made to the Colonial Williamsburg Fund ( checks made out to Colonial Williamsburg Foundation), PO Box 1776, Williamsburg, VA 23187-9910; or the American Cancer Society, 1120 South Goodman St., Rochester, NY 14620; or Visiting Nurse Services (VNS), Office of Gift and Donor Records, 300 East River Road, PO Box 270032, Rochester, NY 14627.
