Shortsville: Formerly of Palmyra Carol peacefully died on Friday, June 30, 2017 at age 71 surrounded by her family after a bravely fought battle with a recurrence of metastatic breast cancer.  She was born on December 30, 1945 in Rochester, NY to the late James and Nora O' Brien of Palmyra, NY.

Survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Richard Ross; daughters, Julie (Bill) Hamilton, Tricia Ross (Jeremy Burr) and cherished grandchildren, Abby, Braden, and Andrew.  She is also survived by her sister, Suzanne Sementilli and James (Judy) O'Brien, along with many nieces and nephews.

Carol graduated from Pal-Mac High School in 1964 and the Rochester School of Practical Nursing.  Her loving, caring nature led Carol to a career in nursing, mainly at Clifton Springs Hospital where she continued to volunteer through this year.

Carol was a faithful life-long Episcopalian.  She was honored as a Visions of Hope Cancer Survivor in 2011. Carol loved spending time at the ocean, music, and most importantly being with her grandchildren. Her infectious joy and personality was a joy to everyone she met.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation on Thursday (July 6) from 4-7 at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 123 East Jackson St., Palmyra, NY.  Carol's funeral service will be held on Friday (July 7) at 11 AM in St. John's Episcopal Church, 32 East Main St., Clifton Springs, NY 14432.  Interment in Palmyra Village Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol's memory may be directed to Patients Assistance Fund at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic at 2 Counter Road, Clifton Springs, NY or St. John's Episcopal Church in Clifton Springs, NY.  To leave the family an online condolence, please visit www.murphyfuneralservices.com.
