Charles I. Rudy

Palmyra, NY: W as called home to Jesus at the age of 89, on January 12, 2025, eight short days after the passing of his wife Patricia M. Rudy "King". He was born on Thursday, October 24, 1935, in Fairport, NY to Stephen and Clarabell Rudy.  Charles is survived by his children, Stephen (Tammy) Rudy, John (Hank) Rudy, and Melissa (Mark) Colling; grandchildren, Christopher (Kari) Rudy,  Joshua (Hannah) Rudy, Jeffery (Sheila) Rudy, Daniel Rudy, Nathaniel (Susi) Luke, and Matthew (Diane) Rudy;10 great-grandchildren with one on the way; sister Patricia Suhr and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Charles, Charlie or Chuck to friends and family, enlisted into the United States Navy in 1955 serving on the USS O'Hare, a destroyer. He had fond memories of his travels, fellow sailors and loved to share stories of his tour of Europe. After the Navy, Charles worked at The American Can Company, in Fairport, as a mechanic. As an outdoorsman there were countless hunting trips taken with friends and family members over the years. But his greatest joy was his family. He attended and recorded almost every football game, wrestling match and track meet for his six grandsons. His pride for them was evident with every cheer he made from the stands.

A private family burial for both Charles and Patricia will be held on January 16, 2025, at Oakwood Cemetery in Penfield NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Charles may be directed to The Wounded Warrior Project .   A celebration of life will be held in their honor this coming May 18th at Fig Hollow in Palmyra.  To leave the family an online condolence or to upload a photo, please visit his tribute wall at www.murphyfuneralservices.com.
