February 25, 1928 – December 18, 2015
Clara Louise Zimmerman Luteyn
"Claire"
Williamson: Passed away on December 18, 2015 at the home of her daughter, with her family by her side. Clara was born to the late George and Emma Louise Stamm Zimmerman in Rochester, NY, on February 25, 1928. As per her wishes there will be no calling hours. She has bequeathed her body to the University of Rochester Medical School.
Clara enjoyed crocheting tablecloths for friends and family, collecting antiques, playing games on her tablet, baking and going to bingo. She was the first policewoman in Wayne County after joining the Newark Police Force in 1962. Clara was also a school bus driver for the Phelps-Clifton Springs School District. She was treasurer of the Wayne County Fair for 4 years.
She enjoyed farm life with her husband, Donald, having raised exotic animals for 30 years. She gained national attention when a local story ran about her "incubating" 15 emu eggs on her person for several days after the ice storm in 1991. The story was picked up by the television show, "To Tell the Truth," and she appeared on the show a few months later. While on the farm, she and her husband cared for State School Residents for 28 years.
Clara is survived by her husband, Donald of 45 years; daughter, Jacqueline (Daniel) McLaughlin of Newark; son, Ronald (Debra) Finewood of Marion; sister, Jeanne Bevis of Chipley, FL; daughters-in-law, Jill Luteyn of Hartsdale, NY and Christine Luteyn of Ontario; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Clara was predeceased by her brothers, Paul and George, both of Canandaigua; step-son, Donald, Jr. of Ontario.
