Passed away on Saturday evening, February 22, 2014 at Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus, NY.  Claire was a longtime resident of Brown Square Village Senior Apartments and attended St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church.  Friends remember her as a strong willed individual who could stand her ground; yet, also could be very sweet and kind hearted.  Claire retired back in the mid  1990's from Xerox Corp. as a security guard.  We understand that she was brought up in the City of Rochester, possibly over a funeral parlor, that her family may have owned.  Many of us in town remember seeing Claire, out and about, in her wheelchair.  She enjoyed going down to the plaza and going in some of the shops such as the Dollar Tree.  We believe that Claire's parents were Louis and Sadie Houck who predeceased her; there are no other known immediate family members.

There will be no prior calling hours.  Friends of Claire are invited to attend her  Funeral Mass on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, 10AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 5823 Walworth Road, Ontario, NY 14519.  A private burial will take place in the Spring at Calvary Cemetery.  Friends may leave condolences at www.murphyfuneralservices.com
