David C. Lewis, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 1, 2024, in Newark, NY. Dave was born on August 25, 1960, in Carthage, NY.  He was the son of Beverly J. (Rueckwald) and Preston E. "Pret" Lewis (d-2016). He is survived by his wife Debbie Ritz Lewis; stepson, Coty Rooze; his mom; a sister and brother-in-law, Teri & Mike Perretta; a favorite uncle, Bill Lewis in Colorado; several cousins; close friends, Dean, Kevin, Rick, Cole, Ryan, Jeff, Paul & Mary.

Dave graduated from Hammond Central School where he loved playing basketball and baseball. He then went on to attend SUNY Canton. For many years he worked in the family businesses: Lewis & Lewis, Inc and Black Lake Supply, Inc. After that, he worked as a machine specialist. He was a skilled machinery operator developer, working with engineering specifications and most recently worked for Weslor, Ent.

Dave was an avid and accomplished sportsman, which he got from his maternal grandfather (Dr. William Rueckwald).  He loved to fish and hunt, catching record northerns, muskies, etc.  Dave loved watching NHL Hockey, which he got from his dad - they were true Toronto Maple Leafs fans. He had a great childhood growing up at Oak Point on our mighty St. Lawrence River, which was his favorite place to fish.

David loved spending time with family and friends.
