Deborah A. Brophy "Debbie" "Kiki"
North Reading, MA
Known best by those closest to her as "Kiki", passed away at home, peacefully, with her loving husband by her side and family close by on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, after a long illness at the age of 69. Deb was born in Reading, MA on Thursday, September 27,1956 to the late Grayel and Gail "Conti" Farris. Deb spent most of her childhood in Reading. Deb graduated from Reading High School in 1974. In 1982, Deb moved to North Reading to raise her growing family. She enjoyed a career in the foodservice industry, taking on many roles, her favorite was being a "lunch lady" in town. She cherished meeting and feeding so many of the children in town, many of whom stayed in touch with her through the years. Deb enjoyed many hobbies, all of which she was proficient enough to make a career out of but did it mostly for fun. Deb was an expert cook. Deb could open a cabinet, look around and a bit later had a meal fit for Royalty. She had the same expertise in the crafts she loved so much. Debbie made such a diverse collection of crafts. She created unique jewelry and specialty crafts. Deb made beautiful crochet items. Many times, she would make something special and anonymously drop it off to someone she thought would enjoy it. Deb loved her garden. She could start new plants and flowers with just a snipping and would nurture it to full size. Along with her garden came the birds. An avid birder, Deb could identify dozens and dozens of species with a glance or by their call. There were always several active feeders to attract new birds. Music, now that's a subject for Deb. Her vast knowledge, and music library, always impressed Bob and those around her. She could pick a song from a single note, or two. She loved all music, from Aerosmith,The Grateful Dead, Lana Del Ray through ZZ Top, to Bach and Beethoven. Music was always playing. Deb's favorite places away from home were York, ME, the White Mountains, and of course the Kancamagus highway. Deb was full of love, life, and happiness, despite her health struggles.
Deb is loved and will be missed by so many. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Bob Brophy; daughters Michele (Adam) Widomski, Shannon (Jesse) Brooks, Samantha (Ken) Sanon; Sons Michael (Pam) Lane, Axell (Casey) Cusolito. Debbie also leaves behind her ten grandchildren, she held so dear, Morgann, James, Abigail, Alicia, Madilyn, Mckenzie, Laney, Jakub, Kenny, and Nicholas. Deb is also survived by her brothers, Grayel and Scott and sister Denise, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends, to include, her special Aunt Barbara, hundreds of friends of all ages, including her close friends, Tracy, Julie, Frank and Mary. If you weren't Debbie's friend, you just hadn't met her yet.
Family and friends are invited to join in a time of celebration of Deb's life on Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 1-4PM at the Ipswich River Park, 15 Central Street, North Reading, MA 01864. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St Jude's research fund
