Dorothy Jean (Auble) Harris

Nov 29, 1925 – Sept 25, 2017

Dorothy left this earth and to the presence of the Lord on September 25, 2017 in Knoxville Tennessee with her son and daughter in law by her side at the age of 91.  She was born November 29, 1925 in Rochester NY to Howard and Eleanor Auble, and through the years resided in Ontario, Palmyra, Haines City, Fla, Macedon and finally in Knoxville TN.  She married Norman Harris August 19, 1944 in East Bloomfield, NY.  They achieved a 70th wedding anniversary in 2014.  Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Norman E Harris, father; Howard Auble, mother; Eleanor Osborne Auble, brother; Donald and grandson Lee.  She is survived by son Brian (Denise) Harris residing in Knoxville TN, son Raymond Harris residing in London England, grandchildren, Amy, Emily, Caitlin, AJ, Lexi, and Josh, great grandchildren; Bridget, Lydia, Brycen, great-great grandchildren, Sawyer, Blaire, Joseph, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Dorothy and her husband Norm had a very full life of serving others through their talents.  As photographers they captured many weddings, and life moments. Their work has been memorialized in the History of the Town of Ontario books as well as her years of work at The Democrat and Chronicle as Life Interest Editor.  Dorothy was an extremely talented seamstress, designing beautiful wedding dresses and had her own alteration business. Later in life they moved to Florida where they worked at Disney World where she worked in costuming for Disney characters.

In 2007 they moved to Knoxville TN and resided at Renaissance Terrace Senior Living Facility. Dorothy's love of serving others continued through making crafts, and "bibs" for the residents there.  She never missed saying hello to residents, and always had a kind word and brought cheer to those around her.  She was special to so many people and will be deeply missed.
