Obituary

E. Jean Hogan passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 15, 2026, at home, where she was loved and cared for.

Jean was born and raised in Newark, New York, the daughter of Eleanor F. DeHond. She grew up surrounded by a large extended family, including many aunts, uncles, and cousins, with family gatherings, summer cookouts, and numerous weddings creating many lasting memories.

Jean was a graduate of Newark schools and went on to earn her degree in language from SUNY Potsdam, specializing in foreign language arts with a focus on French.

Jean dedicated 31 years of her life to education as a French teacher with Webster Central School District. She was known for her intelligence, quick wit, strong personality, and her willingness to share her knowledge and experiences with others.

Jean enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and being near the water. She will be remembered for her strength, humor, and the lasting impact she had on those who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Todd Himes and Matthew Himes (Jennifer Abbott); granddaughters, Victoria Himes and Krista Himes Little (Bradley Little); and great-granddaughter, Natalie Smith. She is also survived by extended family and friends who will miss her.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, 6/27/26 at 11:00am at Lake View Cemetery, 3967 Lake Road, Williamson, NY 14589.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held following the services, with the location to be shared after the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center through Rochester Regional Health, where other friends and members of Jean’s family have previously received care.

“Her strength, humor, and love will remain with us always.”
