IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elaine (Rutherford)
Smith
February 4, 1945 – May 12, 2014
Smith, Elaine "Rutherford"
Macedon/Ontario/Springhill, Florida: Passed away on May 12, 2014 in Florida at the age of 69. Elaine was born on February 4, 1945 to Muriel Tymkin and Walt Rutherford. Elaine was predeceased by her parents; survived by her husband of fifty years, Samuel D. Smith; daughters, Julie (Fred) Bertram, Michele (William) Marks; grandsons, Nick and Kyle Marks; brother, Bob (Denise) Rutherford; sister, Nina (Steve) Ornt; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Robert) Loveless and Beverly Acker; brother-in-law Fred Smith, several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Elaine retired from Don Allisons of Rochester, NY in 2011. She graduated from West High, in Rochester, in 1963. Elaine had a huge love for music. She was in several bands including Justin Case and Mixed Emotion. Her passion for music carried over to recording as well, and Elaine went on to own her own recording studio Laney Productions. Elaine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Recently, Elaine was able to fulfill a dream to enjoy a peaceful retirement to Florida with her husband Sam where she could garden. Many of us believe that Elaine has formed a band, with fellow members, and is rocking through Heaven's door. The Righteous Brothers said it well "If you believe in forever, then life is just a one-night stand. If there's a rock-n-roll heaven, then you know they have a hell of a band".
There is no prior visitation. A memorial service to celebrate Elaine's life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11AM at Christ Episcopal Church, 36 South Main Street, Pittsford, NY 14534. A special thank you to everyone who helped the family when Elaine became ill. Memorial contributions in Elaine's name may be directed to HPH Hospice Foundation, Attn: donations, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, Florida 34667, or a hospice organization/facility of your choice, or a foundation that assists in stroke research. Online condolences may be left at www.murphyfuneralservices.com.
