Ellen Ford Lersch

Rochester: Ellen passed away on August 20, 2018 at age 76.  She is survived by her daughters, Lizabeth (Dave) Johnston, Jennifer (Matt) Anderson and Heidi (Brian) Hendrick; granddaughters, Morgan and Madeline Anderson; brother, Patrick (Lilly) Ford; sister-in-law, Suzi (Carl) Johnson; longtime family friend, Donna Phillipson; several nieces and nephews.

To describe Ellen in one word it would have to be selfless.  She was always concerned more with the needs of others than her own.

She inspired all who knew her with the will and determination shown to make a wonderful life for her family as a single mother.  It was not always easy but she never complained.

Ellen was the true definition of cute... a petite and proper little lady with bright blue eyes and a warm and welcoming smile. She loved pretty things which showed in the way she was always changing and redecorating her home. Her endless hours of gardening and outdoor adventures captured the beauty of her home. Ellen was also famous for befriending strangers, you would turn around and there she is sharing a laugh and a smile with whoever happened to be there.

Ellen's professional careers embodied the same selflessness.  Early on she was a devoted teacher and in her adult life she always worked for organizations where her role was to help others.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday (August 30) at 12 PM at St. Bernard's School of Theology and Ministry, 120 French Rd., Rochester, NY 14618.  Contributions in Ellen's memory may be directed to Alzheimer's Association, Rochester & Finger Lakes Region, act.alz.org.
