Erma S. Callens

Palmyra:  Erma passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 97 on February 24, 2017.  she is survived by her very helpful, loving son, Thomas (Jan) Callens; daughter and loving caregiver, Barbara Callens; grandson, Paul Callens; nieces Sharon Swarthout and Susan (Harry) DeKing; nephews Robert (Marge) Swarthout and William (Candy) Swarthout.

Erma completed about thirty years as a volunteer at the Palmyra Community Library and was honored to be the first recipient of the Dixie Prittie award in 2013

Erma was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1945 after having served for 32 months as a storekeeper in the WAVES.

Erma was a member of the Clown Creators sewing group at the Zion Episcopal Church, in Palmyra, for many years.

Services for Erma will be private with her burial taking place at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford, NY.
