Blauvelt, George E.     "Lucky"

Williamson

Passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the age of 76 with his wife and daughter by his side.  Fair Winds and Following Seas Lucky!

George "Lucky" was born on March 9, 1938 in Canandaigua, NY to Ernest G. and Ida M. (Wright) Blauvelt.  Lucky graduated from Gorham Central High School in 1956.  He immediately entered the United States Navy and seperated in 1962 as an accomplished Navy SEAL/UDT.  Upon leaving the Navy, George enjoyed several unique careers throughout the US which included being an Alaskan fisherman, great plains rancher, Oregon lumberjack, cowboy in the Midwest, construction and mechanical work in the South, and longshoreman in the East.  George retired from Xerox Corporation in 1994 but continued to stay busy as an OTR truck driver for Ryder and Heluva Good and served as a trucking resource to the many grain and apple farmers in the area.

George's greatest joy was his daughter Brandee; together with their combined love of speed and risk, they built a successful racing team starting with microds in 1991, to sprints and cup-lites concluding in 2002 so George and his family could enjoy riding their motorcycles together.  For the past 6 years George, his wife and daughter, honored our nation's past and current servicemen and women as active members of the Patriot Gurard Riders (PGR) of New York, Region 2.

George "Lucky" made, and kept, many life long close friends from PGR, Xerox, local farms and the neighborhood. George was predeceased by his sisters, Bonnie Thompson, Mary Jane English, Sandra Wager; and "little brother" Peter Ricard. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pamela (PJ); his most precious daughter, and the light of his life, Brandee Lee Blauvelt; sisters, Nancy (Charles) Race, Sue Simmons, Patricia Blauvelt, Linda Brink and many nieces and nephews for whom he was very proud and loved deeply.

In accordance with George's wishes, there will be no calling hours or a funeral service.  George "Lucky" requested that a joyous celebration of his life be held at a date in the near future.  Memorials in memory of Lucky may be directed to the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) of NY, PO Box 107, Williamson, NY 14589;  the Veteran's Relief Program, (c/o Bill Schaaf, NYS Coordinator, billschaaf@aol.com ), a veteran's outreach, veteran's hospital of your choice, or the Humane Society of Wayne County, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, NY 14489.
