Gladys M.
Simons
August 4, 1942 – April 16, 2026
Victor United Methodist Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Gladys Marie Simons passed away April 16, 2026. She was 83 years old. She was a daughter of Alice and Oscar Day of Equinunk, PA and one of nine siblings.
She attended a one-room schoolhouse as a girl (a story she loved to tell) and graduated from Hancock High School (Hancock, NY) in 1959. She married the love of her life, William “Bill” Simons, in 1960.
Gladys attended nursing school and worked in various health care roles including medical secretarial work and patient direct care. She also worked as an office manager and assistant for Bill’s commercial art business, “Art Works,” for several years. She spent the latter part of her professional life as an employee of Clifton Springs Hospital, retiring from there approximately 2010.
Gladys was often the first person to be there for you when you needed any help or support, whether the needs were big or small. She was bright, selflessly caring, and always enjoyed a good laugh with her family and friends. She was also civic minded and a former Deputy Mayor of the Village of Macedon, NY, where she and Bill raised their family.
Gladys is survived by her loving husband, Bill, daughter, Kelsey Simons (Brendan Fitzgerald), and son, Robert Simons (Rowena). She is also survived by three grandchildren (Kiana, Khara, and Robert Simons), several siblings (including sisters Judy Warren and Jackie Rutledge), and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her oldest son, Clifton Simons.
Her family would like to express their appreciation of the care provided by staff of the Jewish Home and Rochester Regional Health hospice team in her final days.
Services will be held at Victor United Methodist Church, 106 E Main St. Victor NY 14564 on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11 AM.
