Harold John
Wallace
March 16, 1936 – May 14, 2026
White Haven Memorial Park, NY, Pittsford
11:00 am - 12:00 pm (Eastern time)
Harold J. “Wally” Wallace, of Rochester, NY, formally of Palmyra, NY, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Harold lived a full and remarkable life defined by hard work, service to others, and a gift for conversation that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Harold dedicated much of his life to being a father, a schoolteacher, a woodworker, and a cabinetry salesman. A talented craftsman and businessman, he owned and operated a custom cabinet shop where he designed, estimated, built, and installed cabinetry for homes, businesses, and specialty projects. Harold’s knowledge, creativity, and ability to connect with people earned him the respect of coworkers, customers, and friends alike.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Harold proudly served in the United States Navy as a submariner on the USS Tirante (SS-420). After the Navy, Harold spent years teaching High School Industrial Arts, carpentry, drafting, and home repair, sharing his skills and mentoring young people with patience and pride. Whether coaching sports, refereeing games, or helping others solve problems, Harold was always willing to lend his experience and wisdom.
Harold was known for being endlessly curious. He loved to talk about anything and usually had an opinion to share. His conversations were memorable, thoughtful, and often spirited, and those who knew him will deeply miss his stories, humor, and insight.
He dearly loved his home at Valley Manor, where he built many meaningful friendships. The people there became like family to him, and in return, Harold was loved by so many within the community. In addition, the professionals at Strong Memorial Hospital, in both the ICU and the Palliative/Hospice Units were incredibly kind to Harold and the family in his final days. Truly special people, all of them.
Above all else, Harold treasured his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Wallace and his grandson, Zachariah. He is survived by his children, Kimberly (Stuart) Lisk, Jyl (Jeffrey) Hoffend, and Hope (Michael) Starr; his grandchildren, Joshuah (Christine) Lisk, Gibson Lisk (Noga Hay), Sydney Lisk (Colin Hickey), Henry Hoffend, Charles (Miranda) Hoffend, Grace Hoffend, Audrey Hoffend; and his great grandchildren, Zachariah, Leo, Ezra, and baby Lola Rae. He is also survived by his sister, Frances (Wallace) Cole; and brother, James Wallace.
Harold’s legacy is one of dedication, intelligence, craftsmanship, service, and love for family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Please join us on Friday, May 29th at 11AM for his graveside service with veteran honors, being held at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY at the All Season’s Chapel Sunrise Court.
