Henry A. Pieters

Palmyra: Passed away at the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua on Saturday April 19, 2014 at age 90.  Henry was predeceased by his wife, Teresa in 1999; daughter, Paula in 1955; and his beloved dog, Liz.  He is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Larry) VanDamme; granddaughter, Amanda Crowder; grandson, Gregory (Katy) Barker; 4 great-grandchildren, Derek and Ella Crowder, Emma and Drew Barker; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews.  Henry was a WWII veteran, a member of the 101 ^st Airborne paratroop division, who jumped into Normandy on D-Day.  He was later severely injured, but went on to live a full and productive life.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, taking care of his family, home and pets.  Henry was a house painter and wall paper hanger for many years.  He was a member of the American Legion and lifetime member of the Palmyra VFW.

Friends may join the family on Tuesday (April 22, 2014) from 4-7 PM at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 123 East Jackson St., Palmyra, NY, where his funeral service will be held on Wednesday (April 23, 2014) at 10 AM.  Interment in Palmyra Cemetery.  Contributions may be directed to Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation, www.wwiaf.org or the Humane Society at Lolly Pop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450, in Henry's memory.
