Obituary

Rochester: Jacqueline "Jackie" Akins, originally from Macedon, NY, was truly one of a kind—a fiery redhead with bright blue eyes who proudly embraced her nickname, "Red." Her bold personality, vibrant energy, and deep love for life made her unforgettable to all who knew her.

Jackie is survived by her father, John "Jack" LaLonde; her sisters Diane LaLonde Hasso (Brian) and Julie LaLonde (Brenda); her stepsister Laurie Wadsworth (Mike); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish her memory. Jackie was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Ribis "LaLonde" Gee, and her sister Shelly "LaLonde" Koeberle.

As a sister, Jackie was fiercely devoted to her family. Her love knew no bounds, a gift she shared in ways that left a lasting impact on everyone she cared for. From an early age, Jackie stood out—not content to play with dollhouses, she was busy building them, demonstrating the creativity and determination that would define her life.

Jackie's unique blend of talents and passions was a reflection of her parents' influence. She loved her mother, Barbara, deeply and credited her for sparking her love of fashion and makeup. Barbara taught Jackie how to express herself through her bold style and vibrant personality, lessons Jackie carried with her every day. From her father, Jackie gained a love of tools, the skills to fix cars, and a practical determination that balanced her artistic spirit. Together, they shaped Jackie into someone who could rebuild a car engine as easily as she could create a stunning outfit.

Jackie was unapologetically herself, never one to follow convention. She danced to her own rhythm, dressed in her own unique style, and surrounded herself with the things and people she loved. Purple was her signature color, a fitting choice for someone with such a regal presence and individuality.

Her love for animals, especially chihuahuas, was unmatched. Jackie took joy in dressing up her tiny companions, her "babies," creating outfits that reflected her boundless creativity and care. To her, they weren't just pets; they were her heart and soul, and she cherished every moment with them.

Jackie passed away from pancreatic cancer, a diagnosis she didn't know she had until just two weeks before her passing. In her final days, she was cared for with love and compassion by Patrick Place. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Patrick Place in Jackie's memory, ensuring others receive the same kindness and support that Jackie did.
