James M. Coughlin

Palmyra: Jim passed away on April 30, 2019 at age 67.  He was born in Rochester, NY to the late William and Helen Coughlin. Jim was raised in Palmyra, NY; he moved to Boston to attend college and law school and moved to New York City thereafter to begin his career as an attorney. He made his home in the New York City area, where he would raise his two children together with their mother, Laurie. Jim saw great success in New York and afforded his children a wonderful life; however, he was forever shaped by his small-town upbringing. No one in his life was ever so small as to not deserve his full attention, respect, or kindness.

Jim was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Peter Wilson and nephew, Michael Wilson.  Jim is survived by his children, Katie (Chris) Diamond and Conor Coughlin; sister, Patty Wilson; nephews, Matthew and James Wilson; and many beloved cousins and friends.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 3-4:30 PM on Saturday (May 4) at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 123 E. Jackson St., Palmyra, NY 14522, where a time of remembrance will be held from 4:30 – 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider contributing to the American Heart Association in Jim's name.
