Macedon:  Passed away at his home with his family by his side on Saturday, December 10, 2016.  Jim was predeceased by his parents and his son James.  He is survived by his wife Shirley; children, Cynthia (Michael) Schuth, Sandra (John) Ellis,  William (Dawn) Youngman,  and Kathleen (Norb) Miller; grandchildren,  Emily (Preston),  Ashley (Ryan), James (Morgan), Jack (Wendy), Stephanie (Randy),  Sarah, Branden (Coty), Brittney, William, Cameron (Abbie), MacKenzie, He Du and Xiaoen; great grandchildren, Rebecca, Lexi, Jenna, Jesse, Lauren, Megann, Skylar, Aspyn and Grayson; sisters, Eleanor (Leo) Johnson and Doreen (John) Westerman; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Jim graduated from Fairport High School and went to work for the American Can Company until his retirement.  He married Shirley A. Doyle on November 28, 1953 and raised their family in Macedon.  Jim, also known to many as 1Macedon as indicated by his license plate, was very involved with his community.  He was a former zoning officer for the Town of Palmyra and had been on the Macedon Village Board as well as serving as the Mayor of the Village of Macedon.  Jim was also a member of the Macedon Fire Department, the Macedon Center Fire Department and the Macedon Town Ambulance.  In 1994, Jim was honored as Citizen of the year.  Jim had also been active with Rotary Club and was made a Paul Harris Fellow in recognition of his contributions to his community. Up until recently, many of us would  see Jim cutting lawn for the Town  and Village of Macedon.  He will be missed but remembered fondly by those who knew him and the time he gave back to his community.

Friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 3 to 8PM at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1040 State Route 31, Macedon, NY 14502.  A funeral service will be offered on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 9AM at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Patrick's Church, 52 Main Street, Macedon, NY 14502.  Interment will take place at Macedon Village Cemetery.  Donations in memory of Jim may be directed to Lifetime Care of Wayne County, or, Macedon Town Ambulance.  To leave a condolence, or view a complete obituary, please visit www.murphyfuneralservices.com.
