IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jay Dee
Whiting
November 6, 1946 – February 11, 2026
Jay Dee Whiting surrounded by his family passed on February 11 at age 79.
Jay Dee was a hard-working husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was co-owner of Whiting Brothers Inc in Macedon and in his later years ran heavy equipment for Dolomite, which he loved doing. He enjoyed spending time in the barn with his tractors and teaching his grandson so many things. Jay Dee also enjoyed hunting and shooting clay pigeons with his family and friends. Jay Dee was an advocate for responsible firearm ownership and believed in the importance of safety for all. If anyone had an issue with their gun, he had no problem taking a look at it and figuring out what was wrong. He looked forward to his trips to South Dakoda to hunt prairie dogs. Jay Dee spent many nights enjoying the view by his pool with Laurie, Miller Lite, friends and family, and sometimes taking care of the bees in his own special way.
Jay Dee is survived by his loving wife Laurie; his daughters, Jade Anthony (Doug Andross), Amber Reid (Nick); his step-daughter, Jennifer Rundt (Van); grandchildren, Jaydon Anthony (Mia Howie), Jillian Anthony, Kaedy Andross, Elizabeth Emin Clemente, Nicholas Reid, Dominic Reid, Jordon Rundt (Courtney Jeffrey), Lauren Decker (Tony); great grandchildren, Skyla Clemente, Landon Bailey, Deacon Rundt and JJ Rundt; sisters, Tina Whiting and Susan Boardman (Howard); and many special friends including friends like family -Judy Lydon, Jason Snyder and his best girls with 4 legs and fur Nellie and Beaner.
He was predeceased by his father, John Daniel Whiting; his mother, Margaret Hole; sister, Margot Benett; and brother, Lawson Whiting Sr.
Jay Dee will always be remembered for his sense of humor, honesty (even if it hurt your feelings), his strong work ethic, his cowboy hat and cowboy boots, his famous saying, “did you learn anything?”, the love for his family and close friends and so much more.
A celebration of Jay Dee's life will be held at a later date.
