Jessica (Sheahen) Burke, 54, of Sodus, NY,  passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025 surrounded by loved ones at her home. Jessica bravely fought cancer until the very end.

Jessica was preceded in death by her mother, Penelope (Penny) Debes and her father, Tom Sheahen.  She is survived by her "Dad" Griff Mangan, her son, Ryan Debes Noyes, her husband, Douglas Hickman, her brother, Jeremiah Sheahen, sister-in-law Michele (Canto) Sheahen, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Jessica attended Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing, graduating in 2010, and became a Registered Nurse. For the last many years, she worked as a visiting home nurse in Wayne County.

From childhood, Jessica was deeply connected to animals from frogs and snakes to birds and mammals. In the summers, during her youth, she spent time at a family cabin in the Adirondack wilderness and loved hiking into the wild with family and friends.  She loved living in the country where she could keep dogs, horses, donkeys, pigs and more. Like her mother she had a special relationship with each animal, and the animals were loyal to her. Jessica was an avid angler who enjoyed fishing with her husband as often as possible. She excelled at catching bass, trout, salmon, bullheads, and perch.

Jessica had a wide circle of friends in the Sodus area, having lived there her whole life.  During her illness friends created a fundraiser with the support of several Sodus Point Restaurants.  Her infectious laugh was heard in moments of joyful celebration with friends and family over her delicious home cooked food.

One of the highlights of Jessica's life was a trip to Africa with Griff and Ryan in the Fall of 2018. Jessica was enamored with the Serengeti and wildlife including lions, zebras, elephants, wildebeest, leopards, and hippos. While in Africa Ryan and Jess had a once in a lifetime encounter with wild mountain Gorillas in Uganda. This was a pivotal moment in her life that she truly cherished.
