IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan E.
(Hubby) Harbaugh
October 14, 1931 – December 15, 2021
Joan E. Harbaugh
Macedon – Joan passed away on December 15, 2021 at age 90. She was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Fitz; brothers, Peter and Walter Hubby; grandson, Grant Wise.
Joan is survived by her husband of 66 years, Frank Harbaugh; children, Ruth (Phil) Wise and David (Denni) Harbaugh; grandchildren, Justin (Sarah) and Drew Wise; great grandchildren, Laryssa and Steven Wise; many nieces and nephews.
Joan (Hubby) was born and grew up in Pittsfield, MA. After high school graduation, she attended secretarial school and was hired as a bookkeeper for the Berkshire Gas company. She married Frank on October 8, 1955, after he returned from service in Korea. They made their home and raised three children in Fairmount, NY where Frank worked for General Electric. While doing the important work of raising their children, she also was employed at Sears as the secretary for the human resources manager. Because faith was very important to Joan, she later volunteered at the Baptist bookstore in Syracuse.
Frank and Joan moved to Waynesboro, PA to give care and comfort to Frank's aging parents, where they joined and were active in Greencastle Baptist Church. After Frank's parents passed away, they moved to Macedon, NY to be near their children and grandchildren.
They became members of Northfield Church in Pittsford where they focused their volunteer efforts on several ministries including Wounded Warriors and the Pittsford Food Cupboard. The Cupboard was especially dear to Joan's heart. She and Frank organized, collected, and delivered the donated goods.
She was an avid sewer and quilter, had a lifelong interest in history, a love of reading, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.
A memorial service celebrating Joan's life will be held on Tuesday (December 21), 4 PM at Northfield Church, 507 Thornell Rd., Pittsford, NY 14534. Masks must be word at all times. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan's memory may be directed to Pines of Peace, 2378 Ridge Rd., Ontario, NY 14519.
