Collins, Joan Dolores     "Kidd"

Macedon/Elmont, NY:  Passed away at Clifton Springs Hospital on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the age of 86.  Joan was born on May 23, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Charles W. and Grace Kidd.  Joan is survived by her children; Kathleen Manez, Maureen Moses, Michael Collins, Stephen Collins, Regina Collins, Maria Collins and Barbara Zweigle; brother, Jack Kidd, 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Joan lived for fifty years in Elmont, NY, moved to Valley Stream following the death of Frank in 2005 and then up to Macedon, NY where she was a resident at Parkwood Heights for several years. Joan and Francis "Frank" X. Collins were married on June 30, 1951 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Brooklyn.  She was very involved with her church, was a religous education teacher, a Girl Scout Troop leader while her children were growing up,  and a member of Teams of Our Lady which was a spiritual and service group that aided Habitat for Humanity, among other causes. Joan was a Registered Nurse (RN) having graduated from the St. Catherine School of Nursing in Greenpoint, NY in 1950.  She worked as a surgical nurse at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, NY and later did per diem work at Nassau Hospital which is now known as Winthrop University Hospital.
