Obituary

John Byron Lamb, 79, of Walworth, New York, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 13, 2026.

A proud United States Air Force veteran, John served his country with honor and carried that sense of dedication throughout his life.

After his military service, he worked for many years as a driving instructor and owned his own driving school.

John had a lifelong love of drumming, and his main interests included cartography, Star Trek, and cars. John was a devoted fan of big band and jazz music. He performed with several bands and could show up playing in a bar or a church as requested, you could almost always count on John to show up and play his heart out. Though quiet and humble, he was happiest behind his drum set. He also enjoyed World War II history, and animals, which he affectionately called “critters.” John often spoke highly of his travels with his companion Vickie.

John was preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael Robert Lamb.

He is survived by his cherished grandson, Ian Michael-Patrick Lamb.

John will be remembered for his kindness, gentle spirit, and the joy he found in simple moments, often shared over a burger and an unsweetened iced tea.

A man of few words, he often lived by one of his favorite sayings: K.I.S.S. — “Keep It Simple, Stupid” or “Keep It Simple, Silly,” usually delivered with a smile and a touch of sarcasm.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
