John M. Traas

Walworth: John passed away on November 26, 2015 at age 99.  He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Doris Traas; children, Patricia (Elmer) Sutton, David (Karen) Traas and Barbara (Jim) Stoops; grandchildren, Sharon Woodward, John (Ronda) Sutton, Michael (Jenna) Sutton, Tracy (John) Lambie, Brandy Moreno, Nicole Traas and David Traas, Dani (Zack) Quinn, Benjamin (Mia) Chandler, Mark (Jessica) Chandler and Kristin (William) Shuman; 40 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.

John was very involved with the town of Walworth.  He was past town supervisor, held a seat on the zoning board and town historian.  John was very active in his church his whole life.  He was a deacon, elder and sang in the choir for over 75 years.

Friends may join the family for calling on Friday (December 4) from 4-7 PM at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 1961 Ridge Rd., Ontario, NY.  John's memorial service will be held on Saturday (December 5) at 12 PM at Trinity Reformed Church 909 N. Landing Rd., Rochester, NY 14625.  Interment in Walworth Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions in John's name may be directed to the church, Hope College, www.hope.edu and Walworth Historical Society, c/o 2257 Academy St., PO Box 142, Walworth, NY 14568.
