IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph J.
Pilato
November 6, 1922 – June 14, 2016
Pilato, Joseph J.
Williamson: Passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, with his family by his side, at 93 and a half years of age. He was predeceased by his wife Grace; brother Frank during his service to our country during WWII; and sisters Vi and Sandra. Joe is survived by his children, Theresa (Joe) Zbick, Sam (Keiko) Pilato, Vince Pilato and Frank (Kathy) Pilato; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; brother Jim (Virginia); sister Jeanne (Claude) ; his dog Mollie; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Joe served our nation during World War II through the United States Army. His service included time spent in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines. We will honor him for his service by offering military honors at the cemtery following his funeral service. Following his time spent in the Army, Joe would go on to engage in many fields of endeavor throughout his lifetime. At one point, he had an offer from Bob Wegman to go to work for him as he was opening up a new store. Joe would not accept the offer but he did go on to own and operate his own grocery store in Syracuse. Joe also owned his own clothing store in Ontario, NY, J. Pilato & Sons concrete plant in Williamson, NY, and he also owned some apartment rental units. Joe also worked for Delco and Xerox. He was a gardener. He enjoyed growing plants, fruits and vegetables. His family says he was the "garlic man". Joe also enjoyed sports and was an avid NY Yankees and Miami Dolphins fan. In recent years he was a fan of the #48 car driven by Jimmy Johnson. Joe has left a legacy and his family will remember him fondly.
