Obituary

Age 85, of Rochester, New York, passed gently and peacefully into the loving arms of her heavenly Father on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Woodside Manor Nursing Home in Rochester, surrounded by the love of her family and the wonderful staff.

Born on June 9, 1940, in Belleville, Illinois, Judith moved with her family at the age of 10 to East Rochester, New York. It was there in East Rochester that she met the love of her life, her husband James Straight, and built a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet resilience.

Judith was a woman of almost constant prayer who held deep strength and devotion to her faith, which she would share openly with others. She found joy in gardening, jewelry making, reading, and helping others. Those who knew her will cherish memories of her warm smile, gentle spirit, compassionate heart, and dedication to helping her family. She faced life's challenges with grace, including her recent health battles, always leaning on her faith and the support of loved ones.

She is survived by her two sons, Doug Straight of Avon, New York, and Greg Straight of York, South Carolina. She is also survived by her two daughters-in-law, Maureen and Brandie, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Judith cherished deeply her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great friends who enriched her life. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Straight and her granddaughter, Alyssa.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her favorite aides, Mimi and T, along with the compassionate care team at Woodside Manor Nursing Home and the URMC Hospice Team for their care and kindness during her time there.

A funeral service to celebrate her victory in Christ will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the White Haven Memorial Park in the All-Seasons Chapel, 210 Marsh Rd., Pittsford, NY 14534.

Her legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She has now passed into God's warm love and eternity, made whole and in perfect peace.
