Obituary

Lawrence (Larry) A. Pecor of Macedon, NY, on Thursday, June 1, 2023, passed peacefully at home from the arms of his family into the Lord's loving arms after a brief battle with cancer.

Larry was born June 8, 1957, in Utica, NY, to Donald and Florence Pecor and was raised in Whitesboro.  He received his Bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego.  Larry was an experienced Certified Safety Professional (CSP, CSC, CSS) and was particularly good at making the mundane topic of safety enjoyable and easy to remember through his use of acronyms, poems, and humor.  He initially worked in Utica and moved to the Rochester area in his twenties.  In 1999, Larry founded Safety by Request, providing professional safety services to small-to-midsized employers in Upstate New York.  Since 2005, he was also the Director of Safety & Loss Control at Paris-Kirwan Associates.

Larry was, above all, a dedicated husband, a loving and devoted father, and a close brother who put God and his family at the center of everything he did.  He also deeply enjoyed music, writing over 200 well-crafted mostly Christian songs.  He diligently studied and examined Bible prophesy, with a focus on the Book of Revelation.  He was not restricted by paradigms but sought the truth of the Word.  His favorite Bible verse was, "Come now, and let us reason together…" (Isaiah 1:18a, KJV). Together, he and his family also enjoyed fun-packed vacations, summertime fireworks, and spending time in the pool.  Larry was known for the laughter he brought to family and friends.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Susan (Windhauser) Pecor; beloved children Nicolette Pecor and Nathan Pecor; his loving siblings Gary (Jody) Pecor, Donna (Mike) Rava, and Robert (Kim) Pecor; and special nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was predeceased by his father Donald Pecor, cherished mother Florence Soja Pecor and an infant brother, Donald Pecor, Jr.

The family members would like to express their thanks to friends, neighbors, Cross Creek Church, employers, and co-workers for their prayers and wonderful support through this sudden illness; also, their appreciation to Strong Memorial Hospital; Rochester Regional Health Hospice; and Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels.

Calling hours are Thursday June 8, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 1040 Route 31, Macedon, NY, 14502.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, at Cross Creek Church, 3700 NY-31, Palmyra, NY 14522.  (Interment will be at a future date in Whitesboro.)

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to:

The Father's Heart:  sharing meals and the love of Jesus with the hopeless, homeless, and addicted in Monroe County: https://thefathersheartroc.org/give-2/giving-options-2/

Senegal Africa Mission:  partnering with Senegalese pastors to help fund community projects and spread the Gospel in a largely Muslim country.  Mail a check payable to Cross Creek Church, 3700 NY-31, Palmyra, NY 14522, with "Senegal" in the memo.

As Larry said in one of his many songs:

Everyone I've ever known like an artist in my past

Has painted scenes inside of me on a canvas that will last

And so like precious treasures not one there will be sold

A gallery of memories is worth much more than gold
