Obituary

Leonore G. Reed
Apex, NC/Williamson, NY: died peacefully at home in Apex, North Carolina on June 16, 2015 with her family by her side.

She was born in Williamson, NY on April 23, 1923 to Richard F. and Elsie M. Karstetter, the second of five children and the first girl. On March 20, 1943, she married Sherman Charles Van Enwyck in Pultneyville, NY with whom she had 4 children. She said once "We were probably married too young, but we had such fun together." Sherm died tragically in an accident on January 12 , 1959. Leonore was only 35 when she was widowed with four children aged 4 to 11. In 1964, looking for more opportunities for herself and her children, she moved to Southern California where she continued her education and became an Inhalation Therapist.

On October 5, 1974, she married Calvin W. Reed in Long Beach, California. They continued to live in Southern California until 1993 when they moved to Cary, NC to be near family. Tragedy struck Leonore once again in September, 2009, when her beloved daughter, Dara, died in a drowning accident.

Leonore is survived by her husband, Calvin, three of her four children, Dane Van Enwyck (Laura), Paula Christie (Brian) and Jean Tice (Thomas), six grandchildren, and eleven great grand children, as well as her sister, Lois Castle (Charles), and three brothers, Wayne Karstetter, Allan Karstetter (Anne) and Bruce Karstetter (Mary Sue).

She will forever be remembered by her family and friends for her beautiful and constant smile, her inner strength and resolve, and her love for her family.  To leave the family an online condolence, please visit www.murphyfuneralservices.com .
