Marie H. Roney

Palmyra: Long-time resident of Palmyra, NY, died on May 14, 2016. Marie was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Judson Merrill.  She is survived by her three children, Lee A. Roney, Lincoln M (Leslie) Roney and Diane M. Roney; grandchildren, Hunter K. Roney, Elizabeth A. (Robert) Dogga, Geoffrey M. and Christopher L. Roney and Pamela M. (Derek) Arnold; great grandchild, Milady Caizaluisa.

Marie was a French teacher in the Palmyra-Macedon district for 28 ½ years.  She was active in the Palmyra United Methodist Church, an avid walker and letter-writer.  She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and never happier than on occasions when the family could gather.

Family and friends may call on Monday (May 16) from 4-7 PM at the funeral chapel, 123 East Jackson St., Palmyra, NY 14522.  A service of remembrance and rejoicing will be held on Tuesday (May 17) at 10 AM at Palmyra United Methodist Church, 109 Church St., Palmyra, NY 14522.  Interment will be in Rose Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  It was Marie's request that, in lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the Marie H. Roney French Language Scholarship Fund, Palmyra-Macedon High School, 151 Hyde Parkway, Palmyra, NY 14522 or to the church.
