Obituary

"Nana"

Fairport - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marilyn on October 9, 2026 at age 82.

She was born Marilyn Marie Miller on May 31, 1944, in Newark, NY to Margaret (Donley) and Floyd Miller.

Marilyn graduated from Lyons High School to become a strong independent woman. She was fierce but spoke her mind. As a single mom, Marilyn raised 2 children and valued her Catholic heritage. Throughout her life she worked as a banker and later at Macy's department store. Marilyn enjoyed life to its fullest and in her free time she enjoyed playing mah jah, bingo and reading. Among other things she loved to travel to warmer climates, always bringing home new seashells to admire. Marilyn loved spending quality time with her children, especially her two grandchildren.

Marilyn gave a courageous battle to kidney disease. Her children are thankful for the 9 additional years they were able to enjoy with their mother and would like to thank the staff at Perinton Hills Dialysis Center in Fairport, NY for their wonderful support and care of their mother over the past years.

This was written by a friend/neighbor from Solstice Community:

Your mother was a friend of my mother. My mom told me today that Marilyn passed away. She was very sad and tearful when telling me. I’m very sad too as I found Marilyn to be a friendly, spirited, positive member of the Solstice community. Mom and I offer our condolences and wish you comfort in the knowledge of your mother’s positive effect on those around her.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Linda (Allan) Smith of Lyons; son, Donald (Emily) Fisher of Pittsford; brother, Floyd (Roseanne) Miller of Lyons; grandson, Dylan Guest of Lyons, and granddaughter, Caylin (Jason Spany) Guest of Clearwater, FL. She was predeceased by her father, Floyd Miller Sr.; stepfather, Delbert Miller; and her mother, Margaret Marie Miller.

Following her wishes, there will be no visitation hours. A graveside service will be held at the Lyons South Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in Marilyn's name to Laurel House Comfort Care in Newark, NY or the Fresenius Kidney Center in Perinton, NY.
