Walworth: Passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn was 79 years old.
Marilyn was a born again Christian. Her faith was an important part of who she was.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Fay and Louise Druschel; her husband, Robert “Bob” Wight and stepdaughter Jennifer Soback.
She is survived by her brother, Norman (Rita) Druschel; her children, Brenda (Tom) Welker, James (Tanya) Laforty, Jr., Karen (Kevin) Shea, Patricia (Todd) Anderson, Janie Laforty, Christel (Jason), Jessica (Michael) Spanton, James (Laurie) Wight, and Step son-in-law Mark Soback; as well as her many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her grandchildren include Tyler(Nicole), Ashley(Ian), Joshua(Kelly), Brenna(Kyle), Hannah(Kelly), Felicia(Christopher), Lucas, Christopher(Brooke), Brittany(Cameron), William(Laura), Amanda(Mitch), Amy(Michael), Kyle(Sarah), Nicholas, Cody(Logan), Justin(Bailey), Jacob(Kristen), Matthew, Christel Alaina, Carla(Mehdi), Felix, Isabella(James) and William.
Her great-grandchildren include Ryker, Jax, Emmett, Lainey, Calum, Mikayla, Mason, Sophia, Jackson, Oakley, Alexander,Wyatt, Gabriella. Marilyn also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many extended family members who loved her dearly.
Marilyn was a candy striper in her younger years and later became a labor and delivery nurse. After becoming a wife and mother, she devoted herself to raising her children and creating a loving home. She always dreamed of having a large family so that her children would always have many playmates.
After meeting her second husband, Bob, they blended their families and added 2 more daughters to complete a household with nine children. Family was at the center of Marilyn’s life, and she took great joy in watching that family grow through the years and by generation.
Marilyn had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening (including flowers, fruits, and vegetables). She loved animals and over the years raised many types. She was also involved in her community. She especially enjoyed her years of service as an active member of the West Walworth Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary. Later in life she took up birdwatching with her husband and was able to travel more to places she loved like The Amish countryside in Lancaster PA.
Marilyn will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her faith, her nurturing spirit, and the love she poured into her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friendships. Her life was full because it was shared with so many, and her memory will live on through the large and loving family she treasured so deeply.
No prior calling hours. A graveside service for Marilyn will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, 11:30AM, at the West Walworth Cemetery, 3955 West Walworth Road, Macedon, NY 14502.
