IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin R.
Walton
April 15, 1923 – January 21, 2025
Palmyra - Marvin was born on April 15, 1923, to his late parents, Harvey L. Walton Sr. and Amelia F. Cook. Marvin is also predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Margaret E. Teachman; son, Daniel M. Walton, Four brothers and 5 sisters. Marvin is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William R. and Kathleen A. Walton, Grandson, Zachary R. Walton (Amy S. Klock), Granddaughter, Susan M. (Brandon Dennie Sr,), Great Grandsons, Brandon Jr, Jackson, and Weston Dennie; numerous nieces and nephews. Marv, as he was affectionately called by his family, was born in a small home on N. Creek Rd. in Palmyra. He would often recall his favorite childhood memories. He spoke about hearing the nearby trains day and night, working for a neighbor on his farm so he could bring home produce for his family, walking to school and fishing with his older brothers. Marv did not finish high school but went to work for Garlock prior to enlisting in the Navy. After basic training at Sampson Naval Base, he was trained in a Norfolk Naval hospital as a Pharmacist's Mate and was later transferred to the Marines to aid in the Pacific, working in field hospitals on some of the Islands. Upon his return from WWII, Marv got a job with the NY Telephone Co., where he worked for 35 years as a lineman, installer, repairman, central switching station technician and other numerous positions until he retired in 1981. After his retirement, Marv and his wife Margie traveled to Florida and the Southwest. They spent many winters in Albuquerque, NM where they enjoyed many of the mountains, canyons and caves in the area. In the summer months, Marv enjoyed nothing more than mowing his lawn, enjoying the swimming pool and taking long drives. In his later years, soaking up the sun and sitting by his barn or under the giant maple tree in his yard were the norm. Marv was revered by his family as a much-loved husband and father, precious uncle and proud Veteran. He will be missed daily and remembered fondly. Calling hours will be at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 123 E, Jackson St, Palmyra on Tuesday, January 28th from 3 to 5pm with funeral service including military honors immediately following. Marv will be laid to rest in Palmyra Village Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or to Ontario-Yates County Hospice, urmc.rochester.edu/home-care/giving
